We complement the fantastic NHS care you and your baby receive, offering improved consistency and one-to-one care which instills confidence and comfort during your journey to motherhood.
Some people find NHS antenatal care can be rushed. As our client, you will have regular meetings at our homes, or your home, to monitor your health and the development of your baby, whenever is best for you. We will give you tailored dietary advice and will be at the end of the phone whenever you need us to answer any questions or worries. Our aim is to ensure that you are well informed to make you own decisions and are able to adapt your life to suit a healthy pregnancy.
The birth of your baby is a very special time. Having familiar faces guiding you through birth of your baby can help greatly. We will be with you at a birth centre or in the hospital of your choice. Our care is intended to support you to give birth in the way that will best benefit you and your baby. When your baby is born we will encourage you to have an undisturbed Golden Hour during which you will be able to welcome your baby to the world and breastfeed.
Our postnatal care is designed to help you, your baby, partner and family begin your new life together. We will help you to breastfeed and will explain many aspects of baby care. We will visit you at home, carrying out all the necessary checks, making sure that you and your baby are healthy and happy. We will spread out our visits over the next six weeks, as you become more confident as a new parent. You will also be able to telephone us at any time. Many of our postnatal clients have had their babies privately and this little extra support can be a great help.
We work as a pair and on 1st January 2014 we joined Private Midwives, fully insured providers of maternity care. We guarantee that at least one of us will be on hand to assist you at any time during your pregnancy, birth and postnatally. We live in Kensington and Notting Hill and are able to provide care anywhere in Central and West London. We can support you in the hospital or birth centre of your choice, Most of our mothers give birth at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St. Mary’s Paddington, St. Mary’s Birth Centre, Queen Charlotte’s Hospital or University College Hospital.
Throughout your pregnancy and birth we will give you detailed information on the physiology of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. We will then give advice on waterbirth, pain relief, positions for birth, caesarean section, instrumental delivery, nutrition, exercise and postnatal depression. When your baby is born we will carry out daily postnatal and newborn checks and discuss many aspects of parenthood.
We work in association with Private Midwives and carefully chosen specialists who you might wish to call on during your pregnancy and after: a private General Practitioner, Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, Paediatrician, Clinical Psychologist, Breast Feeding Specialist, Dentist, Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, Nutritionist and Pilates Teacher.
We can also help you to find a Maternity Nurse or Doula, Nanny, postnatal group and play group. As local mothers who have both schooled our children locally, we are happy to advise on schooling.
Our practice is governed by the National Midwifery Council’s Midwives Rules, Midwife’s Code of Practice and Code of Professional Conduct and we follow the National Institute for Clinical Excellence guidelines.
